This article offers an overview
of the conditions in which Mexican women from a variety of indigenous
groups live. Although their lives are difficult because of their
ethnic origin, class status and gender, these women are organized
and participate politically in their communities. The article ends
with the hope that scholarly attention will help to change this
painful situation, and urges further research on this subject by
social scientists.
